Anniversary Tradition

On September 20th, Adam and I celebrated our 3rd wedding anniversary. The past 3 years have flown by, but we have had so many changes in our lives since we said I do!

As we were reaching our 1st anniversary we decided together that we weren't going to celebrate with gifts. There are so many other holidays throughout the year for gifts and we'd rather not spend time stressing about the perfect gift and instead would rather spend it reflecting on our marriage.

We decided that each year for our anniversary that we would head to a used book store and pick out a book with the perfect title to sum up our year together. In the front cover of the book, we'd write a message to ourselves. It could be our favorite memories from the year, or goals for the next year or something else entirely!

The first year we bought "Twelve Times Blessed" since we had so many blessings to be thankful for in our first year of marriage. The second year we landed on "The Secret Between Us" since we had to work so hard to not spill the beans of my pregnancy for those first weeks! This year we landed on "The Partnership." The third year of marriage for us was definitely that. From pregnancy, labor and becoming new parents, we have definitely felt more like a team more than any other point in our marriage.

I love seeing the display of our anniversary books on a shelf in our bedroom and going back and reading the messages we wrote. I am imagining that someday we'll have a whole bookcase full of them!

In other news, the little man is crawling! This video is from Wednesday afternoon and Wynn is only getting faster by the day! He now is trying to stand up on everything too. We found him standing in his crib last week, so we had to lower the mattress to the lowest level! We are going be spending some time doing some major baby proofing in the near future. :)
