First Day of School

What an exciting week we had! Wynn had his first day of “school.” We truly felt like parents sending our little one off for his first day of school as the day Wynn was going to start daycare was the same day most schools in Minnesota had their first day of school. We had to get him new school supplies (in the form of sippy cups, bowls, spoons, etc.), label everything with his name and pack up a bag and lunchbox for him. As we were packing up the car, the parents in our neighborhood were heading to the bus stop with cameras in hand!

We really feel blessed that we were able to find such a wonderful nanny in Cassie and that he was able to stay home until he was 7 months old. He had a great summer with all the extra special love, walks to the park and playtime he had with her. It was hard to say goodbye, but I know we’ll see her soon. We miss her so much!

I was pretty anxious about starting daycare, but it has gone so well for Wynn. As the overprotective first time parents that we are, we made 3 trips to Wynn’s school before he started. We were able to meet his teachers, get all his stuff set-up and let Wynn get acclimated in his classroom and play with his new classmates.

We absolutely love the place we chose for Wynn. The owners are a mother and a daughter and so very sweet. On Wynn’s first day they e-mailed me pictures of him to let me know he was doing all right. His teachers, Carmen, Gina and Savannah, are wonderful too and are all so caring. He has 6 kids in his class, ranging in age from 6 months – 12 months. He has so much fun playing with them each day!

They really try to engage the little ones every day even when they are so young. Each week has a theme and their daily activities include Spanish, sign language, baby yoga, songs, books, and a sensory experience. He’s even completed a few art projects already! Some days they get to go on walks and spend time outside.

Wynn is all smiles when we drop him off and all smiles when we pick him up, so we know he is happy and in good hands. The Education Director let me know yesterday that he is Mr. Popularity there. In his first week, he charmed all the teachers and staff with his flirty smiles and big blue eyes. I have a feeling he’s going to be trouble when he gets older!
