We finally decided to tackle our first road trip with Wynn! We had a wedding for our friends Matt and Bree in Omaha to attend, so Wynn was able to get a glimpse into part of our former lives in the Greek community in college (i.e. fraternity and sorority members . . . it’s how Adam and I met!) and meet so many of our college friends.
It was a much longer drive with a baby, about 7-8 hours instead of 6, but he did so great in the car. I actually thought it was kinda nice to take more stops than we usually would and break the trip up a little! He took some naps here and there, but was mostly up wanting to hang out with us. He really likes sitting in his car seat and looking outside, smiling and laughing at us, and playing with his hands, feet or whatever other toys we put in front of him.
The first night in the hotel didn’t go so great. We arrived around 8 pm on Thursday night (when he’s usually in bed or very close to it) and he had the widest eyes trying to figure out where we were. It was really pretty funny. It took a little while to settle him to sleep and then he was up quite a bit in the night. The second and third night went much better!
We were finally able to introduce him to many of our friends that live further away. On the way down we stopped to see our friends Steph and Brian. On Friday morning, I was able to bring him to brunch with my friends Bridget and Erin. With the rehearsal dinner and all the wedding events, Wynn met SO many of Adam’s friends! We were also able to spend some time with our good friends Colin and Megan and their daughter Leila. Leila is our Goddaughter and we hadn’t seen her since her baptism when she was 3 months old. Now she is 8 months old and such a spunky little thing! She is so adorable and so much fun and it was great to get a glimpse into our future with Wynn. We’re looking forward to the squeals and spoon banging at the dinner table! :)
