It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas

Our good friends Colin, Megan and Leila made their annual winter visit to go to the Bears vs. Vikings game. This year it happened to fall before Christmas, so we were able to get lots of Christmas activities in too. On Friday night, Jon and Melissa graciously babysat both kids, so we could enjoy a night on the town. We went to a Timberwolves game and out for a few drinks afterwards!

On Saturday morning we got going early to have breakfast with Santa. Adam and Colin had the kids marching around chanting "Santa, Santa, Santa" so they were all ready to meet the big man when the time arrived. While Wynn wasn’t afraid of Santa and would sit on his lap, he froze up and wouldn’t look at or talk to Santa! Wynn had fun visiting with Santa’s reindeer afterwards; however, I think his favorite part of the morning was playing in the mirrors with Leila afterwards while we did some Christmas shopping!

The kiddos had a blast decorating Christmas cookies that afternoon. Leila was a pro and so precise about covering every inch, while Wynn was much less detailed! At some point I think he wound up putting one piece of candy in his mouth for every piece he put on a cookie. We also had a nice family dinner and opened up gifts. Adam and Colin ended up unknowingly getting each other almost exactly the same gift (super short swim trunks, don’t ask) and thanks to Colin we also now own a 3 foot horse head sculpture (again, don’t ask!).

On Sunday, mother nature doused us with about 10 inches of snow! While Adam, Colin and Megan trekked out to go to the football game, I stayed back to watch the kids.  It was a beautiful snowy day and pretty warm outside, so we were able to have lots of fun playing outside. Wynn and Leila were having so much fun that I had to bribe them with mac n’cheese to get them to come inside after an hour of playing! We broke out the play dough, made paper Christmas trees to decorate and homemade snow globes to fill up the rest of our day!

As always, we enjoyed our time with such good friends. It was the perfect way to get us in the Christmas spirit!
