Christmas Tree Traditions

Each year we head out to the local nursery just down the road from our house to find the perfect Christmas tree! Our favorite part about this nursery is that they hang all the trees in their indoor greenhouse space. Not only is it warm while you are searching for your tree, but you can really see the shape of the trees when they are hung up.
Wynn had a blast running through the rows of the trees and thought the flocked trees were the coolest of all. He’d prefer bringing one of those home, but we settled on a nice fir tree instead!

Once we get the tree home, we put on some Christmas music and start the decorating. We also have champagne and donuts while we decorate! It may sound like a strange tradition, but we did it one year and it has stuck! Wynn even got in on the fun with some sparkling grape juice, or bubble juice as he calls it.

Wynn was a great helper and did a great job putting ornaments on the lower branches. The Christmas tree lights are wired to a light switch and Wynn just loves to turn them off and on! Similarly, we let him do the inaugural lighting of the outdoor lights. He switched them on and said “TA DA!!!” which made us laugh!

We all really enjoyed setting up the tree and getting the house decorated for Christmas. It was a great foreshadow of how fun the holidays were going to be for our family!
