Back during Labor Day weekend, we took a trip down to Ames,
IA to visit our good friends, Josh and Nikki, and take Wynn to his very first
Iowa State Cyclone’s game. Josh and Nikki had moved back to Ames from Denver in the
spring and we hadn’t been down to visit them yet. We were also SO excited to
finally be able to meet their little boy, Jadon, who was born in January!
On Saturday morning we headed to the stadium for some
tailgating before the game. This was by far Wynn’s favorite part of the day.
Hmmm, I wonder if he gets that from his Dad? He loved running around, visiting
other tailgates, and searching out people to play catch with him! It
was a beautiful, warm day, so I didn’t blame him one bit for enjoying so much time outside! We even had a special visit from Jon, Melissa, Christian and Grandpa Tony!
When Wynn would hear the Iowa State fight song play he would get so excited and start dancing. Adam is determined that Wynn will get to know this one as well as he does the Minnesota one! Adam and I know every word from our time spent during the freshman year Homecoming tradition of Yell-like-Hell.
O we will fight, fight, fight for Iowa State,
And may her colors ever fly.
Yes, we will fight with might for Iowa State,
With a will to do or die,
Rah! Rah! Rah!
Loyal sons forever true,
And we will fight the battle through.
And when we hit that line we'll hit it hard ev'ry yard for I. S. U.

By the time we found our seats, Wynn had fallen asleep. He
slept through a good portion of the game, but woke up to see some of it. That
explains the dazed and confused look on his face in these pictures! The
Cyclones beat Tulsa 38 to 28 and got their season off to an awesome start!
On Sunday, the dads had a fantasy football draft with their
buddies, so Wynn and I hung out with Nikki and Jadon. We had a blast playing and splashing
outside in the pool!
