This past weekend was the annual Geason Reunion. Every July we get together with my grandparents, my dad’s siblings and their kiddos. My dad has 9 sisters and 1 brother, so there are quite a few Geasons! Now that I am a mother myself I can’t imagine having 11 kids. My grandma is the sweetest and most soft spoken woman you will ever meet. I think this may have been her saving grace in a loud household full of kids, because it is hard for me to believe she has a stern bone in her body. From the stories my dad has told me, I know they didn't always make it so easy for my grandparents!
The Geason Reunion tradition started back in 1991 on the front lawn at our old house on Carnelian Lane in Eden Prairie . We started by having two teams, with the team captians being my Grandma and Grandpa, that competed in lawn games for the big trophy. The teams have stayed the same over the years, so they tend to get a little competitive with each other! The lawn games have evolved and now we have some favorites that come back every year.
It can be quite a crazy get together at times, but I love seeing our family from near and far. The family continues to grow by marriage and little ones. Here is how it stands if I have my count correct:
1 Grandma Marion
1 Grandpa Ken
21 Aunts and Uncles
31 Grandkids
11 Great Grandkids
65 Total
We are so blessed to have such a wonderful family and I am so very proud to be a Geason girl. :)
