What will it bee?

It seems to be the season for babies as one of my best friends from high school was also due just a few weeks before my sister! With the help of my mom and a few close friends, we hosted a baby shower for Shannon and Baby Bates. 

Shannon and her husband decided not to find out the gender of their little bundle of joy, so the theme of the shower was “What will it bee?” and we had fun making guesses on whether they would have a girl or a boy. We set up a little photobooth with some girl and boy themed props and had everyone document their guesses with a polaroid camera! The guests also wrote their guesses on a wish tree so that everyone could see which ways the guesses were swaying. It ended up being almost 50/50! We saved the guesses and the pictures in a keepsake book for Shannon to look back on.

It was a beautiful day celebrating one beautiful mom-to-bee. We tried to have lots of bee themed decorations along with sunflowers and sunny, happy colors! We had some yummy brunch food, mimosas, and the cutest bee cake pops made by my friend Katie. My friend Stephanie also made adorable favors with lemon flavored candy and mason jars. It was fun to see how everyone put their love and creativity into making it a wonderful memory for Shannon!

We’ve begun a tradition with my high school friends to always have mother/daughter bridal and baby showers, and I must say that I love it! It is so fun to get together with all our moms too, as they’ve been there for us all as we’ve grown up. I know the moms enjoy it too and love the chance to catch up with each other! My friend Stacy's mom, Mama Lea, always makes beautiful handmade quilts for every baby and we all look forward to seeing what they will look like! My friend Nicole gave Shannon some sparkly pink Toms for the baby - can you tell she's hoping for a girl?!

The best part of the shower was that we were able to spend so much time with friends. Fallon and her daughter Giuliana traveled from Chicago and Stephanie, her husband Brian and her son Warner drove up from Iowa. We really enjoyed our time just hanging out together before and after the shower. I always love seeing our kids play together too and can’t wait for Shannon’s little one to join in on gatherings in the future!

Awhile back we did the needle test to predict the gender of Shannon’s baby and it said girl. It turns out that the test was accurate! Shannon and Jereme welcomed a healthy little girl on October 23. Welcome to the world little miss Ava! She is such a beautiful, sweet baby and I’ve loved getting my baby fix with her snuggles!
